A little boy by the corner on the street,
By the side of the road, near the store,
He would sing, he would dance,
With a pipe in his mouth
Of the joy of the days long ago,
People would stand and stare,
Mesmerized by his song,
Touched by the simple words,
That he sang out loud,
Spoke of happiness as well as sadness,
True from the heart
Stories about love, men, women and children as well,
But no matter, what came out...
People would stand, watching never blinking...
Counting his pennies and shillings,
A long day had it been for him,
A tin box in one hand, and a jacket at his side,
Skipping all the way home...
Was the boy I saw as I walked home from work...
